It is a herbaceous plant, Commonly known as Agrimony with dense hair at base and a native of Europe. It is now cultivated in USA for its yellow flowers and phyto-therapeutic uses. The herb also contains a glucoside alkaloid, nicotinic acid amide, vitamins and phytosterols.A homoeopathic tincture is made from the whole plant. It is covered by Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of United States.It has antihaemorrhagic, wound healing, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-toxic properties. In small doses orally it is reported to be gentle tonic for digestion. In herbal medicine it is also used as urinary antiseptic and for kidney stones. It finds a short mention in Homoeopathic Materia Medica & Repertory by William Boericke where it is recommended for pain in the region of kidneys. Reports in phyto-therapy as useful in rheumatism and arthritis.
